The other day I received my benefits report from the Social Security Administration. Pretty depressing. I'm nearly 39, been working since I was 15, as a programmer for the last 16 years, and if I continue earning at this rate I will get $1200 a month when I'm 65. Hoo boy. That reallly motivates me. Maybe the intention of the report is to show how pitiful the checks will be so I am encouraged to save on my own. Many of my trees should be harvestable when I'm around 65, so I won't have retirement to worry about. It's getting to retirement age that'll be tough.
